[...] Pamet’s project was actually the planned timeline for a much larger project, something like a year and a half to create a full-scale presence on the Teen Grid. The timeline is pretty big, and she managed to import the whole thing from Inspiration into SL and lay it out so we could see it. It was a pretty impressive visual aid. [...]

Good Morning Pamet!
Glad you could make it to one of our regular features -- Trivia! Yes, Rip is a fabulous Trivia Master of Cermonies, and his questions are challenging. Multi-tasking has never been one of my strong points and I can totally relate to the feeling of being 'somewhat' overwhelmed. Between those 'head tags', the IMing, keeping up with the various conversations in the chat, reading the trivia questions, and then trying to type like a maniac to win the prize! As you spend more time in SL you'll find that things will become easier, though I doubt that Rip's questions will become easier! LOL

Again, welcome to our virtual world -- I hope to see you around.

Hi Pamet is was a fun event. I too need to brush up on my typing skills - the trivia contest requires both speed and accuracy. Please feel free to share the folder and the list. Also feel free to modify as you go and share that as well. See you in world.

I can't help trying to answer a question when someone asks. But if I am answering the wrong question someone please correct me.

There are three volumes (if you will) of text communication in sl in local chat. "Say" projects the message to avatars within a 20 meter radius of the speaker. "Shout" goes out to all avatars in a 100m radius (great for calling out to a lost avatar on a tour). "Whisper" is used for short distances of 5 meters - to avoid cross talk with other chatting groups a short distance away, or for scripted objects that are set to send out a message to passersby. There is a planter at ISTE headquarters that is scripted to whisper a greeting to people who pass by it. -Esme

You didn't mention in terms of multitasking that you were also taking pictures from several points of view. You have that camera control thing down! Or that when we have all our senses stimulated (we older adults) the stimulation is usually all related. What you were experiencing was input on all those channels each with distinctly different content. Makes my head hurt just thinking about it. And just a side note, though I have made my preference clear (:-) I won't give up on voice for use in class. I have never liked it, but see that it has its uses. - Esme

Thank you for the clarification. I believe Chapter 5 will be very enlightening to learn more about relationships.

Hurray for avatar improvement! If you ask me, there's no such thing as spending too much time with your avatar.

For the record, not all furries are in that type of relationship, and those who do choose it voluntarily. But I have met many furries who do not think of themselves as losers - they are very proud of who they are and how they live.

Pamet, it is wonderful how you have captured your early feelings in hindsight. It will be helpful to others to hear that they are not alone - that someone as tech savvy as you could be clumsy and reticent and yet persevere. I am so enjoying witnessing your journey. -E
